Pioneer female dj of South Beach. Dj Snowhite was the first lady dj to gain recognition in Florida.
After landing her first residency at Rose's Bar & Music Lounge on South Beach in 1993, she began gigging in and out of Florida. Faatland won best open mic night in The Newtimes in 1999. After this, Snowhite tried other aspects of djing, so she started playing out with various bands. One of the bands was Out of the Anonymous who she completed a 6 song ep with. From 2003-2004 Snowhite began djing for The Funk Jazz Lounge in the Poetry Room, there she interacted with the poets and crowd, soon she was known as the Poet Dj. In 2003 Snowhite was voted Best Club dj by the Readers Poll in the Miami Newtimes. In 2004 Snowhite appeared in the movie "From Justin To Kelly" the American Idol Movie. Snowhite began performing for Miami Light Project from 2003 to 2006, some of this work included Int'l Hip Hop Exchange, Miami Hip Hop Exchange and Miami/Project Hip Hop. In 2005-2006 Snowhite participated in Out of The Box Residency Program as a Dj Instructor for MLP/Youth Expressions teaching young adults the Art of Djing. In 2005 Snowhite arranged music tracks for Glossy Page Pimps starring Teo Castellanos and Raquel Almazan for D-Projects/MLP. Snowhite was the resident dj for the Organic Hip Hop Symposium for 2005 and 2006. Dj Snowhite is now working with Octavio Campos for his 305 LIVE project which is in conjunction with the Carnival Center for the Performing Arts. Snowhite is also a remixer and producer. She's known as the soundscape designer as she arranges and creates soundtracks for various performers and shows, dressing up a song just the way you want it.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Urban Dwellers, Inc.

From the grimy streets of Miami, Florida came a few local graffiti artists who had a vision. Haj Sanchez and John Peterson came together with their individual talents and put a combined vision to work. From murals, billboards, freight trains, building sides, highways, and brick walls, a new visual inspiration was being created we would know later as the Urban Dwellers Family. The graffiti art the Urban Dwellers had spent so many years perfecting would now be taken to new heights, and would take form in 1992. With nothing more than a laser printer and a couple of iron on transfers, the next level of clothing would hit the South Florida streets. Sanchez and a local graffiti artist,Tamas Pomazi printed up their “Flying Eyeball” design, printed the design onto T-Shirts, and headed to Ft. Lauderdale. Pomazi recalls; “We literally had a dozen of shirts over our shoulders and just went club hopping in order to move our product. After we exhausted ourselves on the Fort Lauderdale scene that night, we headed to South Beach where the remaining shirts were sold. I mean, the new shirts were in such demand that my boy Haj had to sell the one he was wearing right off of his back…literally. The following day we printed up more shirts and sold out again." Urban Dwellers, Inc. was now more than a vision, it had become a reality for Haj Sanchez.

After 16 years, Urban Dwellers, Inc. is still going strong. The designs being produced today have evolved into multi-dimensional graphics from the days of the “Flying Eyeball”. Artwork with deep rooted culture and political undertones has hit the Urban Dwellers product line; however, they still haven't forgotten their roots from the early days in Miami, Florida. Urban Dwellers have evolved from their days in 1992 with a broad spectrum of art designs and popularity within the urban underground. Their unique designs have captured the attention of international music artists with the likes of Dramatik, Krumb Snatcha, W.O.L.V.E.S., Termanology, and St. da Squad. Not only has Urban Dwellers caught the attention of the music industry but they have also found recognition in the motion picture industry and premiere product placement campaigns. They're bridging the gap with todays youth by working with many inner city programs to promote a true "Urban Dweller Family" in recognition of upcoming artists needing a voice. Zak Gotay (Urban Dwellers Boston) has truly helped to accelerate this division of Urban Dwellers, and continues to push forward by helping out non profit organizations within the community that support our youth.

Urban Dwellers, Inc. has transformed themselves from two local artists from the streets of Miami, FL into a diverse sector of todays urban underground in the U.S. and abroad. The days of the "Flying Eyeball" have passed; however, their venture into graphic designs on T-Shirts have grown into the selling, manufacturing and exporting of hats, DJ slip mats, CD's, records and DVD's, etc.. From hip-hop to punk rock, skating, snowboarding, and surfing, to drum-n-bass and electro, Miami’s finest - Urban Dwellers, Inc. has something for everyone and are also recognized internationally. So, keep your eyes and ears open because they’ll be hitting your area soon!
Boston, MA (Urban Dwellers, Boston) April 23, 2008 – On Saturday, May 31, 2008, musicians, regional businesses and the community will gather together at the Sportsmen’s Tennis Club located at 950 Blue Hill Avenue, Dorchester, Massachusetts 02124 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. to barbecue and enjoy a talent show, tennis match and a job fair in a combined effort to raise funds to benefit the club.

Founded over forty years ago, Sportsmen's Tennis Club is a 501(c3), non-profit corporation organized in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts with a mission of providing low-cost tennis to urban youth.

“Massachusetts is not without its share of community events, but it’s rare the public know exactly where any funds raised are going”, says Lainee Starosta, co-coordinator and official spokesperson for Urban Dwellers Boston. She adds, “We’ve selected a single credible organization at the core of urban Boston to deliver our support to. The community can observe firsthand the difference being made. This is grass roots.”

The event is being launched with the job fair which will open at 10 a.m. The goal of the job fair is to network regional businesses with local youth looking for something positive to do this summer. The job fair will be followed by a tennis match organized by the club and then a barbecue with hamburgers, hot dogs and other food prepared by Chef Jay.

The talent show is a competitive showcase in two categories: rap and vocals. Local youth will compete to take home cash and prizes. The talent show will be hosted by DraMatik of W.O.L.V.E.S. Entertainment and be judged by female rapper BRIX (MTV.de hottest download), Lawrence rapper Krumbsnatcha (The SOURCE Quotable), Chris Farone (Boston Herald, the Boston Phoenix and The SOURCE) and other guest judges. It will also feature soon to be announced special performances.

All ages are welcome to the event and donations are being accepted at the door, as well as, via representatives on sight. The event will be closed with a short benefit concert by Urban Dwellers guest performers. For additional event information on Rock Tha Block, contact rockthablock@gmail.com.
